29 - December 7, 2008
At the 40th anniversary
of the Essen Motor Show, more than 352,000 visitors came out to
see the amazing display of automobiles, tuning, motor sports and
classic cars. The exhibitors particularly praised the higher overall
quality of visitors. 78% of the visitors used the fair to buy directly
and to choose from the products on offer.
While the newest sporty
models, including several world, German and European premieres,
were in the spotlight as far as the automobile industry was concerned,
the tuning sector once again showed itself to be a "fast worker"
by presenting new 2008 models in already tuned form. The fact that
high quality tuning continues to be in full swing was illustrated
by the positive response by the exhibitors. Professor Bodo Buschmann,
President of the VDAT, Association of German Automobile Tuners,
stressed the significance of the fair as the most important and
largest tuning show in the world.
The trend towards "Eco
Tuning" will also continue. At the opening ceremony of the
Essen Motor Show. ADAC Sport President Hermannn Tomczyk also advocated
Eco Tuning, "it would be nice if "green" tuning
were to come. We should push ahead with eco tuning." More htan
half hte visitors stated they would b willing ot invest in eco tuning
for reasons related to costs and environmental protection.
The Motor Sport Mile which
became the meeting spot for the racing scene proved to be an absolute
hit. It has developed into the central communication platform not
only for manufacturers of racing products but also for the teams,
drivers, organizers and sponsors. Because of the great interest
in this section, it will most likely be extended in 2008.
The next Essen Motor Show
will take place November 29 - December 7, 2008 at Messe Essen.
